Sitting quietly in the Genesis booth at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show is the G80 Sport, the newest variant of the sedan formerly known as the Hyundai Genesis.

Originally introduced earlier this year in its home market of South Korea, the 2018 Genesis G80 Sport is distinguished by a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V-6 rated at 365 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque paired to a sport-tuned eight-speed automatic transmission with shift-by-wire technology. For improved ride and handling, the 2018 G80 Sport comes with a Continuous Damping Control system. The G80 Sport can be had in either rear- or all-wheel drive.

Features that distinguish the G80 Sport from the 3.8 and 5.0 models are dark chrome exterior trim, copper-colored accents, carbon fiber interior trim, 19-inch dark alloy wheels, aluminum sport pedals, and leather sport seats. The G80 Sport also comes in Polar Ice and Sevilla Red, two colors that are exclusive to that trim. Standard features include a 9.2-inch touchscreen, navigation, a 360-degree camera system, dynamic bending full LED headlights, wireless phone charging, and a Lexicon premium audio system.

Genesis also announced changes for the rest of the G80 lineup for the 2018 model year, which includes the addition of all-wheel drive for models equipped with the 5.0-liter V-8. A full suite of active safety systems, including automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control with start/stop function, blind spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert come standard across the G80 lineup. LED headlights with dynamic bending function and a 360-degree view camera are optional on lower trim levels.
