Local stations join the network fray on Election Night, but there are laughs to be found as well:
▪ Locally, WPXI-TV will cut into NBC’s coverage twice an hour. When not broadcasting, it plans to have election updates and analysis on PCNC, WPXI.com and its social media platforms. There will be an 11 p.m. Pittsburgh newscast, followed by more NBC coverage.
▪ With CBS going live from 7 p.m.-2 a.m., KDKA-TV will cut in at 25 minutes and 55 minutes after each hour. Live local reporting from party headquarters, including that of Senate race contestants Pat Toomey and Katie McGinty, will complement results.
Ken Rice and Susan Koeppen anchor from the studio with Jon Delano, politics editor, available for comment and analysis. KDKA has scheduled a local newscast for 11 p.m., but national events will dictate if it stays with network coverage.
▪ WTAE-TV plans to provide 5-minute local reports every half-hour to supplement ABC News’ national coverage. “Your News Your Voice Your Vote 2016” begins at 7 p.m. At 11:35 p.m., it resumes live until 2 a.m. A special edition of ABC News’ “Nightline” runs from 2-4 a.m.
WTAE’s cut-ins begin at 8:25 p.m. WTAE will have an 11 p.m. newscast as well.
When not on the air, the station’s Facebook page will try something new this year: 15-minute newscasts throughout the night via Facebook Live.
▪ WQED, which has been running a series of election issue stories, will not be live Tuesday. Instead, the broadcast will feature PBS election night coverage. Judy Woodruff and Gwen Ifill anchor. Guests include David Brooks of the New York Times and Stuart Stevens, key strategist for Mitt Romney’s 2012 bid.
▪ CBS is broadening its election night fare with a live, one-hour “Late Show With Stephen Colbert” at 11 p.m. Mr. Colbert, who gained good ratings from live post-debate broadcasts, will go live not only on election night on CBS sibling Showtime, but on CBS Monday and Wednesday nights as well.
“It’ll be all the political comedy you love from my CBS show, with all the swearing and nudity you love from Showtime,” Mr. Colbert said when the cable show was announced.
No word yet if Broadway star Laura Benanti, who does a wicked Melania Trump, will drop by.
▪ CNN plans to have live branded all-day election programming although “Election Night in America” officially begins at 7 p.m. Wolf Blitzer, Anderson Cooper, Jake Tapper and Dana Bash will be on hand for coverage and features until 3 a.m.
After that, “New Day” with Chris Cuomo and Alisyn Camerota picks up.
▪ Fox News is all day with “America’s Election Headquarters” coverage. Bret Baier and Megyn Kelly anchor from 6 p.m.-1 a.m., with reports from, among others, Chris Wallace, Dana Perino, Juan Williams, Tucker Carlson, Karl Rove and Charles Krauthammer.
John Roberts and Carl Cameron will be at Trump headquarters, with Jennifer Griffin and Mike Emanuel at Clinton’s.
From 1-4 a.m., network coverage is hosted by Eric Shawn and Heather Childers.
■ Fox Business Network has anchor and managing editor Neil Cavuto overseeing its Election Night coverage. Stuart Varney has a special edition of Varney & Company at 4 p.m. followed by Lou Dobbs at 6. Mr. Cavuto and experts take over at 8, with Mr. Dobbs and Maria Bartiromo on assignment throughout the night until 1 a.m.
From 1 a.m. on, David Asman and Melissa Francis handle overnight reports.
■ MSNBC has Brian Williams anchoring, with Rachel Maddow and Chris Matthews featured throughout the night. Coverage begins at 6 p.m.
▪ Comedy Central will be all over the election, with back-to-back live shows beginning at 11 p.m. “The Daily Show With Trevor Noah” will be broadcast and available also at comedycentral.com and the network app.
“@midnight With Chris Hardwick” has its first live show at midnight; both he and Mr. Noah will include live election updates. A pretaped “Tosh.0” special is at 10 p.m., followed by an election-themed package of “Drunk History.”
▪ In the run-up to the “Democalypse 2016” events is “Make America Mmmkay Again” — a mini-marathon of politically themed “South Park” episodes Monday from 8-10 p.m.
■ Weather Channel will go “chill” in the best possible way. No election coverage, just “Clouds! Rainbows! Autumn Splendor!” in a 9-hour video marathon beginning at 3 p.m. And of course, there will also be smooth jazz.
